Mt. Falcon Surprise Proposal
Surprise Proposal at Mt. Falcon | Colorado Proposal Photographer
Some photo sessions are special because of the location. Others because of the people.
This one was special for both — and for me, it was extra personal.
I first photographed the bride-to-be when she was just 16. Over the last seven years, I’ve captured so many milestones in her life, watching her grow into the incredible woman she is today. So when her fiancé reached out (with a little help from her mom!) to plan a surprise proposal at Mt. Falcon in Morrison, Colorado, I knew this was going to be a moment I’d never forget.
Here’s the tricky part — she’s one of the most observant people you’ll ever meet. We knew she might suspect something if we just asked her to meet for photos, so we had to be creative. The plan? Make it feel like her idea to do a “couples” session at one of the most scenic engagement photo locations in Colorado.
The day of the proposal, the light was perfect over the foothills. We wandered the trails at Mt. Falcon Park, surrounded by sweeping mountain views and golden summer grass. I had them do a few casual poses so everything felt natural. Then, at just the right spot with the mountains behind them, he got down on one knee.
The look on her face said it all — pure shock, joy, and love. There wasn’t a dry eye in sight (and yes, that includes me).
Photographing this proposal, knowing the history we share, was one of the biggest honors of my career. These two are starting their next chapter, and I’m so grateful I got to capture it.
If you’re dreaming of your own Colorado mountain proposal — whether at Mt. Falcon, Red Rocks, or one of our many gorgeous alpine lakes — I’d love to help you plan a moment that’s unforgettable (and perfectly photographed).
